Codex from your phone through an always-on Mac or PC

The phone connects to a Mac or Windows machine running the ChatGPT desktop app. That host can reach Linux projects over SSH. If the host is a machine that stays on, such as a Mac mini, your laptop doesn't have to.

  1. On the host, open the ChatGPT desktop app and go to Settings → Connections → Control this Mac or PC → Set up.
  2. Scan the QR code with the ChatGPT app on your phone. Use the same account and workspace.
  3. Optional: in Settings → Connections, add an SSH host and pick a remote project folder.
  4. On iOS, open Codex in the ChatGPT app (it may still be labelled "Remote") and start a task. Keep the host awake and online.
