Any CLI agent over Tailscale + SSH + tmux
Works with any agent you can run in a terminal. You get the agent's own terminal UI and nothing on top: no push notifications or diff viewer unless you add them.
- Install Tailscale on the host (home machine or VPS) and on your phone. Sign both in to the same tailnet.
- On the host, install your agent CLI(s), plus tmux. Install mosh too if you'll use Blink.
- On the phone, install an SSH app such as Termius or Blink Shell. Add the host by its Tailscale name or IP and use key authentication.
- Connect and run
tmux new -As agents, then start the agent. Later, reconnect with the same command to reattach.
Things to know
- Don't expose agent daemons or ports to the public internet; keep them on the tailnet.
- If the agent is waiting on a permission prompt, nothing alerts you unless you set up hooks yourself.
